* How much experience do I need to take an MCSS course?
The courses are designed for beginners and professionals alike. You don’t need previous experience of working with suspension, but familiarity with working with hand-tools is necessary.
* Can I do the courses if I’m under 18?
Unfortunately, due to insurance restrictions we can’t currently accept students below the age of 18.
* I service forks in a dealership, will I gain anything from the fork servicing course?
Yes, more than likely you will. The approach to servicing forks as a suspension specialist is completely different to that of a working in dealership. Many people who have attended the courses have had prior experience but still found the course eye opening and informative. They are also a good way to refresh your memory if you have taken some time out from the industry.
* Do I need to bring lunch?
No! Lunch will be provided. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
* I want to make a career in suspension, which course should I take?
The Master Technician course is designed for those wishing to pursue a career in the suspension industry. The course starts with the basics and builds throughout the week so that whilst a lot of information and knowledge is covered, it’s not overwhelming.
* How much practical work is involved in the courses?
The courses that contain the most amount of practical work are the fork service and shock service courses and the Master Technician Course. There isn’t a large amount of practical work in the theory elements of the Master Technician Course, but there are some practical elements to keep it interesting.
* Are there any certificates at the end of the course?
Yes, you will receive a certificate at the end of each course as proof that you attended. The Master Technician Course has a further certificate with a grade if you successfully pass the exam.
* Can I bring my own forks/shocks?
Unfortunately, this is an element of the course that the insurance company put a halt to.
* Can I take any course material home with me?
You’re free to take home any written course material handed to you during the course.
* What should I wear?
If you are taking a practical course, make sure you are wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting covered in oil.
* Do I need travel insurance to take this course?
We would advise that you take out insurance, particularly if you are travelling from abroad. The weather in the UK can be fickle particularly during the winter months. If for any reason Reactive Suspension need to cancel the course, then the course fees would be refunded or places deferred until a later date. However, we can’t cover any travel and accommodation expenses.
* I live far from York, where would I stay?
