Off Road Shock Servicing

During a service the shock is fully disassembled, thoroughly cleaned in a three stage process and inspected for wear. Shock shafts are polished to remove any pitting which could damage seals, and reduce stiction. Servicing is often neglected until something leaks, or breaks, keeping the shock well maintained not only offers performance benefits, but can work out cheaper in the long run.

Description

During servicing, the shock is completely disassembled, meticulously cleaned through a three-stage process, and examined for any signs of wear. The shock shafts are polished to eliminate pitting that could harm the seals and increase stiction. If necessary, the shock bodies are honed to enhance sealing performance.

All components are measured to ensure correct tolerances, and the units are reassembled with new high quality seals and bushes. Only premium shock fluid is used, and, whenever possible, shocks are filled using a vacuum filling machine.

Shock absorber performance declines gradually over time, so you may not realize how much it has degraded until there is a noticeable drop in performance. Regular maintenance keeps your shock working at its best and extends the life of the unit.

We can service WP Trax, PDS, Showa A’ Kit, KYB Factory Kit, or standard production shocks in our workshop.

Riders who would like to maintain their own shocks can learn the skills necessary on our Shock Servicing Course.
